🔗 Share this article The Game UN:Me: A Cerebral Thriller Merging Survival Horror with Among Us Mechanics The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed a number of fascinating upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us. "This is a distinctive experience where a young woman containing multiple human souls within her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the psyche," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Entering a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist who appears to be of teenage years. Within her exist four separate souls, all possessing unique fears and motivations. These souls can seize control spontaneously, unleashing their innermost terrors upon her without warning. Based on showcased footage, much of the action takes place within a creepy medical facility, while other scenes depict the main character navigating a abandoned church. A World of Individual Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uneasy?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that appear minor to other people can trigger something primal inside us. This game delves into that concept — anxieties that are specific to every individual." The central mechanic involves managing the persona that surfaces at any given time. However, these souls will switch involuntarily as you play. While exploring, each soul's fears become exaggerated and assault the protagonist in succession. As the persona shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Decision Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The setting is populated by nurses all sporting the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the lobby have large flowers growing from their necks should be. Flowers are a recurring theme, contrasting organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities inhabiting the heroine is the "real" one. "All four personas claims that the physical form belongs to them," explains a creator. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real." Once players have deduced a persona is an impostor, they must eliminate it. But, because every entity can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration suggests. "The last one remaining could be a fake. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a confirmed launch window, but it is available to follow on digital storefronts.
