The Merseyside club Vows Not to Alter Attacking Style Despite Recent Slump, Says Slot

Arne Slot has announced that the team leadership agree with his assessment regarding the recent downturn and he will not abandon their forward-thinking philosophy in search of a solution. The manager acknowledged that six defeats in seven outings was not good enough ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Pressure Mounting Throughout Difficult Period

Slot accepted the pressure was on before his makeshift team suffered Carabao Cup elimination against Crystal Palace. However, he insisted that this pressure to arrest the slide is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or executive leadership following a summer transfer outlay of almost £450m.

"We share common perspectives," commented the Liverpool boss, whose team next week face Los Blancos in the European competition and travel to the Citizens in the English top flight.

Player Depth Stays Undoubted

Liverpool's manager thinks his team "possess an exceptional group if they are completely available and all ready for the fixture list". He said that the transfer window acquisitions in players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who is expected to be sidelined again against Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in a strong situation for the near future and the long-term future".

Team Cohesion Issues

When pressed on why his team were taking so long to gel, he replied: "That question isn't constructive. 'What's causing this?' I give an explanation and people say I'm making justifications. I can come up with five or six reasons why we are not winning as much or losing as much as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are inadequate reasons to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • Regardless of whether I could come up with numerous reasons
  • As Liverpool manager you must avoid losses
  • Unfortunately six out of seven

Backline Performance

Only the Lancashire club (twenty-one) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Liverpool (nineteen). The first-place team, the Gunners, have allowed just two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the champions have been too open and maintains there is no justification to abandon offensive philosophy for a defensive approach after 10 games without a goalless performance.

"From my perspective we don't conceding a lot of chances so I find no basis to alter our approach completely but we must improve in not conceding goals," he declared.

Particular Cases

"When facing United, how many chances did we concede? Versus the German side when we were ahead by two goals, we barely allowed a attempt on goal. In every match we have competed in we haven't conceded a many opportunities. Absolutely not. We do give away a bit more than the previous campaign but that stems from us being trailing by a goal so you take a bit more risk. But typically I don't believe that our issue is that we concede too many chances. Our challenge is we don't score the openings we produce."
