🔗 Share this article The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Critical Role Track This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord. All in all, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the song choice. The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the official score of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will love its inclusion. Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018. Featuring vocals from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks. The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off. Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be one of them. This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on Spotify and the video site.
