The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
